let's create something devilish.
Gregory Pernicone Jr (he/him) is an actor/director/stage manager based in Harlem. An alumna of Rider University,
I'm currently preparing for the 20th Annual Tennessee Williams Theatre Festival in Provincetown. I serve as the box office manager, and will be performing in Songs Until We Meet Again. Click here to learn more, and join us in PTown!I'm also reading a lot about Commedia dell'Arte, studying Verdi, and preparing to direct a production in New York City in the spring of 2026 -- more to be announced soon.
As I research the history of Shakespeare's The Tempest in preparation for a production this spring, I am shocked the centuries of scholarly discourse over (well, the themes of enslavement and colonialism that arise naturally in the text, but more importantly) the various interpretations of Ariel and Caliban. Are they two sides of one coin? I think yes. Is one better than the other? I think not. Do I want to see more productions with radical interpretations of what freedom from Prospero means for both Caliban and Ariel? Oh yeah.
Let's talk about your next big idea.
